The Rules Empty
PostSubject: The Rules    The Rules EmptyWed Mar 07, 2018 4:11 am

Warriors of the Lake is designed to be a friendly Warrior cats rp group. It is geared towards the fandom's literate members. Here, writing one-liners in an rp is not a viable form of rping.

These are our basic rules that will keep the forum in order.

1. You must be 13 years or older.

2. Absolutely no threats of physical violence, verbal abuse or sharing of passwords and sensitive information.
  - If you ever feel like you are being harassed, bullied or even stalked, tell an admin or mod immediately. Screencap as much of the evidence as you can as users are allowed to edit their posts. All claims are taken very seriously.

3. On the site and in the chatbox, members are to remain kind and respectful to each other at all times.
 - A difference of opinion is understandable, but there is no reason to harass anyone because they think differently than you (this includes preferring one clan over another! You might like one more for whatever reason, but this does not mean you should constantly be putting down other clans, etc.). This follows the same line as rule 2. Anyone found violating this rule will be given a warning. For any violation after, staff will take further action.

4. Posts should maintain an average 100 words or more. Though the uncommon one-liner in mid-battle is acceptable.
  - Having difficulty? Think about what your character is feeling, what are the surroundings like, what are they out to do? This forum is focusing on quality over quantity. You can copy and paste posts [here] to see how many words you have written.

5. OOC chat stays out of In Character threads.
  - If you must relay a message, use the PM box. Never make OOC only posts.

6. Each person is limited to no more than nine characters at a maximum.
  - 6 active and alive warriors, kits, apprentices and rogues.
   3 semi-active older retired cats.

Leaders and special ranks all count towards the 9 active roles.

7. No person may have more than 1 special role.

Roleplaying Rules.

1. No cat may be openly related to a canon cat.
  - This site is geared for well after the canon has happened. Nearly 80 years have passed and no cat truly remembers the events that led to the mass migration to the lake, or that there even was one! The forest home is long behind in history. Even names like Firestar are no longer remembered. Consider the lake, a blank slate.

2. Keep posting PG-13.

3. Keep the posting order
  - All roleplayers have 72 hours to post in their threads before you may skip them, though it's generally unadvised to do so. The only exceptions are when this is pre-arranged between all of the players involved, or if the poster openly announces they are unable to respond on absences.

4. Follow the Warrior Code.
  - Don't expect to be able to pull forbidden relationships or murders. While a few will be approved, the warrior code is important for the balance and structure of the clans as a whole. It's time to really embrace that.

5. No asking for Leadership, Deputy or MCA positions.
  - If you ask a dozen times, you don't get it. It's just that simple. If you aspire to a position, write it in their character creation, under aspirations, when you submit it. Maybe someday they'll be chosen.

6. Respect the Medicine Cat and their Apprentice as much as the Deputy and Leader.
 - They are responsible for the health of the entire clan and speak to StarClan. Their connection to the stars puts them in a position of great importance to begin with, but since your cats will all have to rely on them for herbs against sickness and healing, it's best to be in their good graces.

7. In order to ensure the Gatherings run smoothly, the following must be followed. Please note that failure to do so will impact your rank requirements.
 - Upon the last clan being led into the gathering, each clan has four days for people to post their cats arrival to that gathering.
 - Once the gathering officially starts; roughly a week or week and a half at the latest, from the topic's first post: no new cats may come into the gathering. It is up to each person to make sure the cats they need there, are there. (For preplanned interruptions PM a mod or admin for approval first.)
 - Gatherings will run from the First Quarter moon phase to the Last. You can check the moon phases here. In this example, the gathering thread would be made April 22nd and close May 8th.

8. Use the [ plotting board ] to have plots and murders or forbidden relationships approved.

9. Leaders and Medicine Cats will be voted on in August. Five cats from each clan with the highest, quality, activity level will be chosen and voted on by all. Get those gears ready.

- For now, we have 5 temporary leaders who will momentarily fill in to avoid chaos.

ThunderClan -
WindClan -
RiverClan -
ShadowClan -
SkyClan - Rippedsky

Medicine Cat and Medicine Cat Apprentice Rules

1. Must be active and maintain the herb logs at least twice a month.
- Even if nothing has changed, this must be done to ensure that the numbers are up to date. If you are ever caught falsifying your stores, every herb will be stripped away as well as your rank.

2. The MC and MCA respectively must post at least twice a week. Missing the Activity check is not an option.
- In the events of vacation, exams, work or other personal stuff getting in the way some leniency will be afforded, but you are still responsible to post.

3. MC's and MCA's will not magically know everything that happens in the clan.
- The Clans have secrets. If something is to be revealed, only an approved StarClan cat and message may do so.

4. The role of MCA is determined by the current MC. The more you ask, the less your chances.
- The MC may choose to put it to a vote, or even roll a dice or random number generator. It's up to them.

5. Moonpool journeys will happen on the new moon. This may be started by any full Medicine Cat and is a chance to exchange herbs. It is only open for a week and a half.
- Visions and prophecies will be determined [here] prior to the Moonpool topic, so you have some time to prepare.

6. Attendance is required at the gatherings by the Medicine Cat or Medicine Cat Apprentice. This is another opportunity to trade herbs if a clan is in dire need.

Leader and Deputy Rules

1. Must be active and consistent with their posts. At least seven posts per week minimum. You cannot miss an activity check.
- Just like MC's and MCA's; in the events of vacation, exams, work or other personal stuff getting in the way some leniency will be afforded, but you are still responsible to post.

2. All leaders must post within a week of the Gathering topic being posted. If the leader does not do so during that time frame, the deputy may lead the clan in and/or substitute on the leader's behalf.

3. A leader's reign may only last for a year. In situations where a leader is failing to keep up with expectations and neglects their duties, they will be giving a warning. Continuing to do so will force the removal of the leader and ultimately the rise of the deputy.

4. Once the deputy becomes leader, they have two days to make the final decision on who will become the new deputy.
- In accordance to the warrior code, the new deputy should have finished training at least one apprentice. However, in situations where there aren't enough cats to fill in the position, meet all the requirements, or legitimately aren't good leadership material, they may choose a less-experienced cat.
- You may not choose one of your own characters.

5. Leaders may do as they like in regards to the clan. Whether it's lay seige on another clan's territory, raid prey, tell them to all dance and do the hula. However the clan is allowed to rebel in cases where the lives of kits or innocent cats are at stake.

6. Leaders and Deputies should treat the Medicine Cat and Medicine Cat Apprentice's with respect.
- Remember, they are the cats who actually share tongues with Starclan, gather herbs and keep the clan healthy. It is important that their words are at least listened to. Though the leader still makes the ultimate decisions.

7. Once a she-cat is chosen as deputy, they may not have kits. This applies to when they become leader as well.
- If you really want them to have kits, you may apply under forbidden romance. Remember though that ultimately as a leader, all cats in the clan should be treated as their kin. This rule exists because it's in the books, and frankly, a she-cat would be unable to perform her duties from the nursery.

NPC Rules

NPC's, or Non-Playable Characters, are a viable tool to help the Clan's develop and grow, but because they are Non-Playable, they are limited to certain restrictions.

1. NPC's may be used as mates in lieu of existing cats at any time.
2. They may be used as background characters in posts.
3. NPC's are not, and never to be, the main character of any plot, murder, or cross clan relation. These are cats who fade into the background with zero consequence.
4. NPC's may be murder victims, but never murderers. Please be aware however that NPC murder victims may not be well known and therefore heavy exposition on the victim would be required.
5. No NPC may control a position of power (with exception of forum launch - August.)
6. Remember that NPC's are not bonus characters. You may not use them as characters on a fequent and common basis. Once their role in the background is over, it's over.
